Anita Gohdes receives Walter Isard Award 2016

Anita R. Gohdes receives the Walter Isard Dissertation Award for her work, Repression in the Digital Age: Communication Technology and the Politics of State Violence. In her dissertation, Godhes develops a framwork to analyze how government's control of the internet affects the state-sanctioned violence. Gohdes completed her thesis under the direction of Prof. Dr. Sabines Carey.

The University of Mannheim is among the world's top universities in the area of social sciences. In the current THE Ranking 2016/17, the social sciences have been ranked #3 in Germany, #7 in Europe and #55 worldwide. Adam Scharpf receives Dina Zinnes Award

Adam Scharpf is the recipient of the 2016 Dina Zinnes Award for the best graduate paper presented on a SSIP panel at this year’s ISA Annual Convention. He receives the Award for his paper on the political and military determinants of US foreign military training. The Award is presented by the ISA’s Scientific Study of International Processes Section (SSIP*). We are delighted that the Committee awarded the prize for the second time in a row to a member of our Chair. 2015’s recipient was Anita Gohdes.
